EYES OF AN ARTIST entry 16

VIRGINA SPENCER

Baton Rouge, La

"When asked by the fabulous Tony to be apart of his expressive endeavor I was super pumped! Prior to receiving this piece I thought about using spackle to create a lifted image. That way if my stuff were to get painted over, it was cool because you could still see my design. Once I had the piece for a few days I realized we needed some SPARKLE! Glitter does not have the best reputation, which influenced my decision to use it on this piece. I chose to outline the canvas edges to give it a "gaudy" gold frame then added a few rhinestones to the face of the painting to tie in the heavy glitter boarder. I enjoy the idea of as the painting travels, a little bit of glitter may be left, marking its way through this creative journey." - Virginia Spencer
